Etisalat Tower

Shankland Cox were inviited to participate in a limited competition for this prestigious headquarters building against well-known international companies. The brief requested the competitors to produce an arresting 'landmark' design, in recognition of the prominent site adjacent to the World Trade Centre and freeway interchange.
The proposal responded to the brief with a dramatic organic design exploiting a stacked set of office floors surrounded by Etisilat's trademark 'golf ball' housing communications equipment. The office floors are embraced by a sweeping curved wall that links the 'golf ball' to an entrance domed feature, also recalling the latters form. A set of publicly accessible floors is incorprated in the design at the lower floors.
Having won the limited competiton, Shankland Cox were then commisioned to proceed with the full building design and to supervise its construction. Services included full architectural design, intention design of the entrance lobby and other public areas, quantity surveying and cost control, as well as mechanical and electrical design of all building services.
This 200million dirham project is located on the Sheikh Zayed Road Interchange and will be the new headquarters for Etisalat. It is due for completion in November 2006.
